Gymnázium Na Vítězné pláni is situated in Prague 4, on the borders between the neighborhoods of Nusle and Pankrác. It has a magnificent view of the Prague castle. It is easily accessible by the underground metro (line C).
The school provides general education, there are currently 650 students enrolled in 4-year-long and 6-year-long study programs. The curriculum puts big emphasis on foreign languages. Apart from English also German, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek and Russian are taught.
The school has many foreign students from different parts of the world.
The school graduates are very successful also in their tertiary education. Majority of them continues with their studies at universities. Most of them choose to study law, medicine, economics, science and foreign languages.
The school has a number of children from mixed families or foreigners. Our effort is to include them not only in teaching but also in social, cultural and sports activities of our school. By including them in every possible way and activities we have been fighting for years against xenophobia, racism and cultural misunderstandings.
The school will actively participate in the organization of the whole project and will provide its partners with all the necessary information and make sure that the appropriate space is available, so that the work on all the set tasks could be carried out and intended goals could be achieved.
The Kryoneri Lyceum of General Studies is, the State school for the three last grades of secondary education, mainly for the pupils of Kryoneri, but appealing to the residents of other nearby areas, too. The Kryoneri Lyceum is housed in spacious and recently built facilities, near the forest, but only about 40 minutes from the centre of Athens by train, ten minutes from the nearest train station by car or bus, and with a regular bus connection.
As the title suggests, the school provides its 140 pupils with general knowledge, preparing them for access to University studies, but also for a professional career wherever a secondary education degree is sufficient. The vast majority of pupils is successful in university entrance exams, always feeling the satisfaction of a diverse curriculum enriching their school life with cultural and alternatively educational experiences.
The 15 professors of the school have not had the opportunity to participate in a European program so far, but there is a growing interest in the particular ‘mobilities’ as well as great potential, which can ensure the program’s successful completion; all necessary action will be taken to that direction, following our last year’s agreement over the program’s content, targets and pupil needs or requirements.
The High School of Petra, in the island of Lesvos, has approximately 150 pupils, coming from six different villages in the area. The pupils are from 12 to 15 years old, with many immigrants among them. The area is fairly far from the capital of the island (57 kilometres with a difficult road), which gives a sense of isolation to the people living here, including teachers, especially in winter where there is no tourism. These three years are part of the obligatory education in Greece. The aim of the Secondary School is to provide the pupils with the basic knowledge in a lot of subjects, varying from Literature, History, Greek Language, English, French, German, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Art. It is also important to make the pupils aware of their needs, interests and abilities, in order to help them to make a choice about the type of school they will follow and their future occupation. The past few years though, with the inspiration of the headmasters and with the enthusiasm of many new teachers, there have been a lot extra activities, developed not during the official schedule. These extra activities have included a theatrical play, programmes about the history of the place with the use of oral material, presentation of films, programmes of environmental education, programmes of career education, activities regarding the equality of the sexes, making the pupils’ own books, geomythology. These programmes, along with their presentation in the local community via meetings held in local fairgrounds and excursions with strictly educational purposes in other parts of Greece, have given new zest to the pupils as well as the teachers. The school also has a strong sport team, with a lot of participations in national athletic events. Currently the school is focused on a project called “I act and I care”, which is about volunteers, and is a part of a group of fifty Greek schools with the same project. Moreover it prepares itself for taking part in the so-called “Mathitiada”, which is a sport event with Greek schools inside Greece and abroad. The teachers of the school try to educate themselves through attending seminars, conferences and courses held both in the island and in other parts of our country, with the aim to provide as good education to their pupils as possible.
Mladí i dospělí, jsme si pomalu začali formovat reálný obrázek o tomto problému.
Určitě jim bude velkým přínosem v budoucnosti v pochopení sociálních, ekonomických, kulturních i společenských změn.
